Their story

The floating theater appears only during the hour between two unfinished seconds. Orelia Quill discovered its brass doors while studying a clock that had forgotten how to stop. Syrentha Pyre arrived through the stage floor as a single ember and laughed when the theater demanded a performance before it would open its balconies. Orelia learned the machine’s exact rhythm. Syrentha taught the gears to enjoy it. Their duet lasts one minute, but every gear in the theater remembers the melody afterward. The Arcane Elf winds the central music box and writes the timing into the air; the Ember Elf catches each beat as a harmless spark and sends it spiraling through the pendulums. When they finish, the theater descends a little closer to the clouds, as though listening for an encore. They have never performed the song the same way twice, and neither wants to.
