The Green Script Age
Maelis Thornmere
The Verdant Cipher
A rune elf tends luminous flowers in a hidden glasshouse, listening for the garden’s oldest spell.
Her story
Maelis Thornmere can read a garden the way other scholars read a manuscript. Every vine in her glasshouse carries a fragment of an old protective rune, and each flower opens only when she speaks the syllable hidden in its roots. She has never forced a bloom. Instead, she waits through whole seasons for the plants to decide what they are ready to say, recording their answers in a spellbook that smells faintly of rain.
