Her story

Ilyra keeps the songs that the sea refuses to surrender. At first dawn, when the pearl moon is still visible above the reef, she places a tideglass shell to her heart and hears the lost verses of sailors, whales, and vanished island courts. She does not preserve them in books. Instead, she returns each melody to the water at the season when it is needed most, trusting that the tide will carry it to someone listening.
