Their story
Veyra Ashen and Ilyss Varglas are unrelated wardens of the Riftline, assigned to opposite ends of the same unstable sky-bridge. Veyra reads the pulse of crimson vow magic and moves by instinct; Ilyss traces the cold geometry that keeps a fracture from widening. When a rift opens between the volcanic ravine and the glacier pass, the two coordinate a dangerous mid-stride seal, each trusting the other to complete the half of the ward she cannot see.
